Merci Simone!

A friend has asked me to make an 18th Birthday card for her so how could I resist using the wonderful Simone from Toodles and Binks.
I took inspiration from two blog challenges for this card;
The Daring Card Makers asked for everyone to use inspiration from coffee, hence the choice of image and the base colour.
The other challenge is from this week's Dutch Dare who asked to use 3 flowers on our creations. I do hope I don't have to count the flowers on the paper too!!!

Another fold card!

As I said when I posted my previous 2 cards, whilst I was cutting and measuring for one card...I went ahead and made another at the same time...made sense to me as I was cutting a sheet of A4 in half. Little did I know then that Challenge 4 over on Crafts by Carolyns would be to make another fold card.....LOL, I should have kept quiet and held one back!

"Make your second Challenge Fold Christmas card. YOU MUST HAVE EMBOSSING ON IT ALSO IT MUST BE A COLOURED CARD"

This time I decided to go with a Dottie Download and double up with this weeks challenge over on the Daring Card Makers where this week they are asking you to "Sparkle and Bling!" A challenge you just HAVE to try out as this week there are some fab sponsor prizes up for grabs-pop over for details.

Here is what I came up with, I haven't put any wording on the inside yet as I am not sure who I will send it to. I LOVE these little fold cards!

I used Magic Princess Dottie from the Dress Up Dottie Collection.

A daring sneak peek!

I have just finished making my second card with the fabby new range of stamps that Nikki is releasing shortly.........I have rumaged through my paper stash for some bolder patterns and colours and found some scraps from some Cherry Art papers (I think) that I had for a Design team back in 2006....fits in perfectly with this weeks DARE!

"NOW ! - on to this weeks dare - we have a team dare this week, and we were thinking.....with so many new things /latest papers/ trendy stuff constantly coming on the market, we thought it would be nice to have a look back, and dig out some of our 'old' papers and embellishments and make a card with our 'preloved' treasures. I think the tendency these days is to get on the 'latest must have' band wagon, sometimes, its nice to recognise what we already have- even if it isn't the 'latest' embellishment/paper."

Now unfortunately...I am still on my secret mission so I cannot show you the complete card until later on in the week...but here is a little taster!

One Ferdy= 2 challenges!!!!

Well - what with the arrival of my Prismacolor pencils yesterday, it would have been very rude not have tried them out. Joanne kindly sent me a few paper stumps to try out but unfortunately I haven't had a chance to get any Sansodor.......so I have been using a Boots Lavender massage oil!!!!! LOL.......so crafting has been particuarly relaxing eh!!

I need to get my crafty backside into gear and find my mojo again so what better way than this weeks Dare! I used Ferdy Snow Frog again....I have had such fun with this stamp-thank you Nikki. I also wanted to try my first attempt at a frame card....I searched the land of blog and found a tutorial I saw back in March for Papertake Weekly. Thank you to everyone for the inspiration!

A Daring Cat!!!

I am loving the new cat downloads from Lou and as I ordered them from Charmed Cards & Crafts the other night, a few other things "fell" into my basket! They other stash arrived today and were delived to my mum & dad's house while I was at work....it was a great way to lift my spirits at bit today.

I have managed to make a quick card this afternoon and I love this little cat download...I THINK it is one of my favs, but that could easily change as I work with the other 8 designs that I haven't even touched yet! I Used this weeks dare from the Daring Card Makers: all you have to do is create a card featuring an animal!!! So what more inspiration did I need with these likkle cats just crying out to be used!

The round sentiment stamps from Cuddly Buddly fit perfectly if you print off 9 images to a page!! LOL...Lucky enough I ordered my second set this week!!

A weekend over...

....and not a lot done!!! My listmaking isn't going too well!

Gerry Hula Hoop has not changed much, today I manged to put on his bottletop knees and then add his ears and little horn things!!

Out of the 3 NVQ assignments I have only managed 1 still although the second is well under way.

Out of the 4 commissioned cards I have only made 1.....oh well, the week isn't quite over.

The card I DID manage to make was a wedding card- vintage style, using chocolate brown, cream and golds. This is what I ended up with.

I met 2 challenges here;

This weeks dare from The Daring Card Makers.
"Hi it's Keryn here and it's my turn to Distress you all, or at least your cards with this weeks dare. You can make a card for any season, any holiday, any occaision but you need to use either a fingernail, curled edges, sandpaper, tearing, anything you like really as long as looks like it's had a fair bit or wear and tear."
and also sketch # 9 over on My Paper World.
I have promised myself a hot shower and an early night as Amelia must have woke us up nearly every hour last night!!!

I just can't resist a dare!!!

So much for sticking to order in my challenge diary! I was half way through a card this morning, then I updated my diary with some new challenges that had been launched today...and then it all fell apart at the seems!!!

I obviously cannot resist a dare!!!!

We've folded.....:)
Now this weeks mid week dare is inspired by Rachel and is called 'Folded' ! This is not folds in the card blank itself, but rather folds ON the card- whether it be some kind of paper folding technique or folded embellishments or even just a folded over message of some type.

Now funny enough this idea came to me at the weekend while making some cards for another challenge so as soon as I read this- I just had to drop everything a give it a go....the other card by the way is still sitting unfinished on my desk!!! ( I have an excuse as the children are at home, I have cooked dinner tidied up and helped hang one of our new vertical blinds in the kitchen! )Now it is time for a nice cuppa and curl up on the settee with hubby to watch Moonlight.

The paper is out of the prize pack Martine sent me, the gold shimery paper is out of the depths of an untouched pack from yonks ago-think it came from Craft Creations

Shrink to fit!!

Had a quick go at the latest dare from the Daring Cardmakers this morning.

"So without further ado, here's my tiny little challenge for this weekShrink to FitI used to be able to make cards with lots of "white space" around the designs, but lately when I've tried to do this my cards just look sooooo naked!
So this week I'd like you to think small - not small cards, but small spaces of embellishment on regular sized cards.
You are allowed to cover no more than a 5x5cms area of your card with paper or embellishment - the rest of the card must be left plain.
How you use those valuable cms is up to you. So you may choose to split up those cms to use around your card, or use them in a block or a line. It might help to cut a few 5x5cm squares then cut those up to work out good ways of using your allotment. Making your whole card a miniscule 5x5cms is NOT an option!! Lets have no cheating (I know what you lot are like),but because I'm feeling generous, I'm going to let you add a SIM
PLE greeting as extra to your 5x5 allowance! "

The main stamped image is by Crafty Individuals and I used a friend collage stamp by Hero Arts for the frame which I embossed with a mixture of clear and copper embossing powders. Sorry, not a great pic!!

Out of my comfort zone!

Made another card this afternoon and I am really not sure of it, it's probably the colours that are my biggest concern!! Whatever way I look at it though I still thoroughly enjoyed trying out something a bit different.

I met 2 challenges along the way too!!

Rip it up on Crafts by Carolyn-"ripping and tearing it doesn't matter what you tear - just getting ripping! "

and Fantastic Plastic over on Daring Cardmakers. "This week it's Rhi here to dare you and I'm on a recycling mission. I dare you to look again at the plastic packaging around you and transform it into a brand new card. It could be food packaging, craft packaging or just something plastic that's destined for the bin or recycling. Trim it, die cut it, alcohol ink it, crop-o-dile it, give it a new lease of life then share it via your blog for us all to see. Happy Recycling! "

Here it is- please don't be too harsh!!! Runs off and hides under her new stamps!!!

DCM- Moody blue!!!

After such a busy week I have been feeling at a bit of a loose end today- got so much to do and not really sure where to start!!!We are hanging in limbo about Amelia's statement and still waiting for the plans for the extension before we can go any further. Fed up of feeling I hadn't achieved anything- I sat down this afternoon to make our God-daughter a birthday card. Thought I'd try another monochrome one for the Daring Card Makers challenge- but again I really struggled to find matching tones of blue. Not really happy with the finished result- I used a new pen for doodling and I don't like the heaviness of it- so I tried to disguise it with glitter!LOL!
Had fun though- next I need to make a card for my Father-in-law so I might try greys or browns for him!
